Roman is a London-based photographer whose work centres on the search for authenticity in portraiture. His approach was shaped in the analog era, where learning to shoot, develop, and print his own photographs instilled a lasting sensitivity to timing, composition, and the value of every frame.

His fascination with faces began early through drawing and gradually evolved into a photographic practice focused on spontaneous, character-driven portraits. Growing up in an artistic environment and shaped by years of observation, Roman developed a quiet attentiveness to expression, gesture, and the subtle presence people carry with them.

Alongside a career in architecture, he was frequently commissioned to document the human side of designed spaces. His portraits have been published and exhibited, and form part of the permanent display at the London Business School’s Sammy Ofer Centre. More recently, his work was featured in the exhibition Soho Characters and Other Icons at the Colony Room Club, celebrating some of the personalities that animate London’s cultural life.

Today Roman focuses primarily on street portraiture across London. After more than two decades exploring the city with a camera, he has built both a substantial visual archive and an intuitive sense of its atmosphere and hidden stages. Through his evolving persona and project BeMoreRoman, he now also leads small street-portrait workshops, inviting photographers to slow down, look closer, and connect with the people who shape the city.

Whether working with a camera or through expressive portrait drawings, Roman’s work is guided by a simple belief: every honest portrait reveals something about both the subject and the person behind the lens. This is where Lens meets Line.
